Religion in Denmark |

"The predominant religion in
Denmark is Lutheran. I've seen statistics out there that say 97% of the people
in Denmark are Lutheran But, I just wonder about statistics like this. Where'd
those numbers come from and who did the math?" In Denmark, the Danes are born
into the Lutheran church, and pay approx 1% of their taxes to the Lutheran
church. These Danes are all baptised, and confirmed, and then later married and
buried within the church. To not be a member of the Lutheran church, one has to
actually leave the church, or when a child is born, the parents are to say if
the child is to not be a member of the church. (The parents go to the church to
name the child). So this is where the 97% comes from. We know that it's
90-something%, anyway, don't know if it's exactly 97%. Of that 90-something%,
only a fraction go to church regularly. Baptism and confirmation is very much a
part of their culture. Besides, if one dies and isn't a member, it costs a lot
of money to be buried! Anyway, a lot of people in Denmark are Lutheran. Do you
